Media Links¹ MD6000 will transport all live uncompressed HD and SD video feeds over a DWDM contribution network, from all 12 venues across Germany to the IBC (International Broadcast Center) in Munich throughout the entire schedule of 64 matches. The MD6000 Video Transport System provides high performance video transport over existing SONET/SDH and IP Networks. Advanced technologies, including forward error correction, differential delay adaptation, and hitless protection switching, allow flawless transport of the most demanding types of video signals. Uncompressed HD and SD video along with STM-1 and DVB-ASI signals can all be transported over a variety of networks, including dark fiber, STM-16/OC-48, and STM-64/OC-192. Software options allow video signals to be embedded in PPP packet streams allowing the system to interoperate smoothly with MPLS and other advanced packet transport systems. During its debut at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan/Korea, the MD6000 provided reliable transport of uncompressed HD and SD feeds between the stadiums and seven Tokyo-based broadcasters.
