I "voted" for OTA but I also have DirecTV HD.... but the voting machine only permitted one selection :-(
#3
I have the same dilema... cable and OTA
#4
I receive local HD channels via Cable (cable cards) and non-local via DirecTV.

I primarily use cable, but have active setups for the other two sources as well. You should change the poll description or allow more than one choice.

Satellite AND OTA
#7
C/KU band and OTA
#8
DirecTV and OTA,
OTA seeming to be of better quality,
less lip synch problems,
less compression,
more channels.
NYC metro area
#9
Direct TV

Direct TV and OTC

Me too! I have DirecTV (regular service), but get my local channels in HD so I voted OTA.

Dish & OTA

Please amend the choices to allow for combinations!
We seem to be the majority here!

Hi -
That conference surely "MESSED UP!" The most naive pollster on the planet SHOULD have allowed for COMBINATIONS! C.U. did the very same in their annual survey, as well......didn't REALLY want to know, obviously! eli whitney

Direct TV Satellite and OTA for locals.

Didn't vote with reply box cuz it only allows one choice
#18
OTA & cable...

I found out 3 years ago that to solve a problem with defective equipment there are 4 or 5 levels of reps to talk to and even though they will tell you to call back to talk to the same person it will never happen. So you have to explain the entire problem over again and again and again. Finally when the final level was equally as unhelpful as the first I cancelled them out of my life. I wish you all good luck with DTV. I now use OTA exclusively for PBS and don't have to buy 150+ channels of trash and ads just to get 2or 3 I can watch. Garbage IN--Garbage OUT!!

Hi----
THANKS to sources including this one, I was lucky enough to AVOID satellite TV entirely..... from the experiences about which I've read as well as personal friends, I can't IMAGINE why they haven't ended up in our courts as a CLASS ACTION !!

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE Customer Service !!!!

Satellite cable & the total lack of any legitimate C.S. has done a LOT in promoting O.T.A., I believe!!

Yeh, but I can't get The Golf Channel and the Speed Channel OTA. Or the Playboy Channel, actually. :?:

HI DAVE......

TOUCHE !!! NO QUESTION ... I suspect (after reading his again ) that the frustration was due to
his latest exposure to their miserable HD DVR,

NOT satellite, per se??? Have a great one!

Dear Eli,

Please note the following:

1. At the conference the audience was polled using hand-held response devices, which did not appear to allow multiple voting. I believe it was a technical limitation, not a design mistake.

2. Our forum software (where this poll has been republished above) also does not allow for multiple selection. So again, a technical limitation.

3. The software we used for our annual survey does allow for multiple answers, and the questions was presented that way.

Thank you,

- Shane Sturgeon

Hello-

Wasn't trying to be overly-critical.....I apologize.

I OBVIOUSLY do strongly believe that all should connect O.T.A. for their HDTV , in addition to whatever else they elect to use. eli whitney

I, too, am among those who receive HD content from multiple sources...in my case Satellite (DISH) and extended cable (TIME WARNER)...for a grand total of about 40 high def channels all looking superb on my SONY SXRD 50" set.
#26
I've been watching HD from my OTA for over a year and it's picture quality seems better then what I get from Dish. Most of our viewing is HD... we really like the sharper pictures. We seldom watch any of the old VOOM channels that Dish carries - as there is only one or two that have a super picture.

Hello---

Richard, Dave 3 putt & the rest of the guys can do it for certain BUT I seemed to have read / found out "accurately" about the compression / clipping issues done by ALL HDTV sources EXCEPT O.T.A. to make it a positive means by which we can all enjoy the full internal features of our new HDTV units to their best!!! ( EXCLUDING Blu-Ray, etc., naturally ).

LOTS LESS messing around w/ screen sizes, too.

Hi -
Seriously, I was strictly referring to that original '05
questionaire---NOT yours of this week! Appreciate
the explanation of those technical limitations.

AGAIN, I'm sorry to have offended!
