Wireless Display Adapter - What's out there? — Community

hi,

i'm setting up my SOHO office, want to hook up my PC with the ceiling projector, have a hard time to do the wiring. i did research online and found this:

has anybody tried this? how well it works? i'm looking the iogear wireless kit as well, also Linksys, don't know which is better, any info are welcome...

While the manufacturers keep dangling the wireless video connection carrot in front of us, so far all I have heard about is problems. The main one being bandwidth, nearly all falling way shy of the HD most are thinking of; 1080p (check a review of the iogear product you mentioned). When they can come close to resolving the bandwidth problem it gets VERY expensive, about $1000, and I think that product was limited to 1080i.

It's been far more hype than delivery of a wireless system that can fully duplicate a video cable!

Hi,

Although some time have passed, it may be useful to you. I have just bought a wireless display adapter, and after few days playing with it I can say it works great, and it was very easy to install. I even found that watching videos from youtube look awesome on my LCD screen! btw, regarding resolution, it goes up to 1440x900.

So for native HDTV resolutions it is basically good for 720p?
These things are all over the place on the web. Not very good in practice, for the most part. The cheap ones are artifact city.
There is a reason that cables still rule. Wireless is for when you CAN NOT have cables. And then VERY expensive, and in no way as good.
