Problem with my HDTV

I have a Hitachi 50V500. It is actually my second one. First had an awesome picture but it had a green "dot" that appeared in dark scenes or when the picture was in 4:3 standard (black bar on right of screen). Dealer tried to fix by replacing the light engine. When he got done the TV would not turn on. Dealer gave me a new TV. Dark scenes on 2nd TV has distortion or "pixelalation" on shadows on faces or when transitioning from dark to light colors. Has anyone come across this problem before. Guy at Hitachi said that this was a problem he has never come across before. Certified Hitachi tech that looked at TV said that is how HD TVs are, specifically Black Levels???? This is NOT a black level issue so I am not sure where he was coming from. He said he would replace the motherboard but did not think it would change anything. All I know is that the 2nd TV does not compare to 1st TV. Any info from anyone would be appreciated.

hmm... Sure everything is really setup exactly the same including the customer controls? This type of artifact is actually quite common but since you did not notice it before I would suspect adjustments. There is always the possibility you have discovered something you didn't you didn't know...

That is called a stuck green pixel.

The first TV I was able to leave on factory settings. With the second TV I have tried making several adjustments to the settings on the TV, but nothing has given me the picture I had on the first TV.

Right now the TV is hooked up a little differently. I originally had it hooked up the same as the first TV. No change in picture though.

This problem happens with DVD and HD cable signal.

I called the repair place that came to look at it and they said they had the exact model of my TV in their shop and they were trying to see if they could duplicate the issue. I guess I will have to wait and see. Thank god for extended service plans. I will just keep complaining until they get it fixed.
