Coaxial Connections

I have the SONY 6800 surround receiver. The system comes with a 5 disc DVD/CD changer. I want to use player for playing music CD's through the sound receiver. I just recently purchased the Samsung 941 DVD player. I want to use this player for watching DVD movies. I now use the 1 Coaxial connection for the Samsung 941. I use the Optical connection for for my HD receiver to my TV. I use good AV jacks from the SONY DVD player to the TV
in case I want to use the Sony DVD to watch movies. I prefer my son using the SONY DVD player rather than the Samsung 941. I am at this point out of Audio connections. The Sony DVD player has only 1 AV hookup. Can I split the Coaxial jack on the audio receiver with some sort of coaxial Y connector? (male to 2 females). That way I can use the coaxial hookup for both the SONY DVD and Samsung DVD player. I just want to make sure before I purchase another good audio coaxial cable. A sales person will sell you anything.

Although I'm not familiar with all of your gear, I understand you to want to Y pairs of audio cables that terminate in RCA connectors. Your local Radio Shack will have various Y cables and connectors that might work. All you need to do is go and look at what's available (or try CompUSA, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc).

However, I'm not certain that there might not be an impedence problem that would kill your frequency response or load a component badly if you combine in this way. The safer approach would be to buy RCA jack switches (also available at Radio shack). Be careful to switch only with your system turned off or muted to avoid any speaker blowing transients.

The Sony DVD unit only has one audio hook up? No red and white RCA's? You have a pretty bare bones system, so you're not going to get much flexability there. It is what it is.

If you mean analog L/R audio yes. If you mean digital audio I don't know as I have never tried but it is possible it may not work now would it be recommeded.
