I love my job. Have I mentioned that before? If you\'ll excuse the mixed metaphors, I have my fingers in enough pies that I get to look out over the landscape of our amusing little avocation and see Engineering genius stacked up next to Marketing faux pas (uh, let\'s call them mis-directions, unclear as to legitimate intent or not) on a regular basis. Sometimes it boggles the mind.

Interesting your LCD comment Terry: “What we want, of course, is local area dimming, where the "area" is one pixel. That's the path to ultimate REAL contrast ratio.”

In other words, what plasma technology does for the past 15 years (or OLED), while stuffing millions of homes with inferior LCD technology, a consumer stampede for cartoon like imaging; but the blurriness is bright!

We match taste on some of the concerts Terry, try Chris Botti, Legends of Jazz, Sting and symphonic orchestra tour, and Diana Krall (Paris and Rio). I agree in that they are a great tool to demo a good home-theater.

Try them in Cinemascope with anamorphic lens; the overwhelming width of the stage view in that aspect ratio gives the feeling of first rows/being there, while the top/bottom cropping of the vertical stretch is mostly of non-stage content, provided the camera centered well the band vertically.
