Thanks for the CES update on 3D TV. I am still not wearing any glasses to watch TV no matter how good the effect is. I doubt if I will ever be interested in No-Glasses 3D TV either. I still think 3DTV will not be be big as plain old 2D HDTV. 4K.... now you are talking!

Magoo, I think that there are lots of people who agree with you on all counts.

By the way, no-glasses (autostereoscopic) eats up resolution rapidly, so Sony was showing an HD prototype that started with a 4K panel. It looked good, and may have had as many as five sweet spots, but the positions had a fairly small range so you had to be in precisely the right spot.

I also came across a new DLP rear-projection 3DTV from Mitsubishi. It was hard to miss; it has a 92″ diagonal screen.

Wow, that is news. Please give us an MSRP on that (likely very affordable compared to flat panels of similar size). Throw in the weight if you can.

That size is directly competing with front projection systems while removing much of the hassle of front projection, namely light control in the viewing environment...

They were being coy about pricing, but Consumer Reports says it will be under $6,000 which sounds about right to me. I did not get any specifications on the model, but I expect that it will be no more difficult to move than a 65" flat panel set.
