Has anybody actually tried to get this deal? I went to the website, and the closest I can come is the $200 rebate on HD programs given over a 10 month period. But the headline here states no rebate. I IMed Dish, but the person I chated with had no clue about this deal. It couldn't be a hoax could it? Or only available is some areas?

I have the Dish 622 dvr and it is truly a great product. However, the announcement of a free dvr by Dish is greatly overshadowed imho by the Directv announcement of 100 new hdtv channels due 3rd quarter. If Dish is unable to expand it's hdtv offerings they will be at a great disadvantage in the near future. Hard to believe they were not expecting this challenge and have what seems to me such a paultry reply. Anyone hear of any new Dish hdtv on the way?

The 100 additional HD channels Direct announced include mostly local HD channels - so that number dosen't mean much - unless you must get your local channels via satellite.

Direct is gaining on Dish in the number of HD "other than local" channels as well so I do agree that Dish does need to get on the ball with expanded offerings.
