Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the cable companies see a noticeable drop in the number of subscribers? If so, then their actions are an attempt to woo back those who left.

Bob, that's part of what I wrote in the column; for the past quarter, cable companies lostmore than 600,000 net subscribers, and TW's share of that was about 155,000. But I think that cable's problems are more systemic than just losing some subscribers. The earth is moving under their feet.
