Last week McIntosh Labs stop by the Washington DC/Virginia area in Fairfax, VA to reach out to fans and to introduce their products, the event included live music as well.
McIntosh was and still is up there among the few American companies that still work very hard to continue producing quality audio products. They still have their traditional metered displays and blue-hued backlighting and unique knobs. Audio quality and elegant appearance made McIntosh so special to many for decades.

Re: Hi-End Audio Legend McIntosh Labs Meets HDTV Magazine on
I first heard McIntosh equipment in the 50's at Allied Radio on Jackson Street in Chicago. I was duly impressed , but couldn't afford their equipment and purchased an Allied Knightkit amplifier kit, which I built and kept until the early 2000's. In the 60's ,while living in a suburb of Binghamton, I took my amplifier to a McIntosh amplifier clinic at Audio Service Company in Binghamton. I was asked what type speakers I was using with the amp, and told them they were AR-3's. Based on that, the test was run at full rated power on both channels (30 watts/channel) into 4 ohm loads. The McIntosh folks were astounded at the performance of a sub $100 kit built amplifier. Frequency response was dead flat up to the point where output transformer iron saturation came into play. I probably would have won a prize at that clinic if it hadn't been for one of my coworkers, who submitted a Harmon Kardon kit built amp and won. Tht was the closest I ever came to owning a piece of McIntosh gear.
