What and where does this device fit?

Hi: It sounds good in the sence of, " ...not requiring a PC..", i.e. more reliability, one less part to fail; and yes disks also fail, but I'm missing something: HDMI out?, to a a TV or HT Reciever-switcher?Separate remote? a disk with a brain (special purpose processor)? Works like a VCR? or a disk based digital recorder? Takes in pictures? from a digital camera? Music from MP3 gadgets?
Sounds like a hard drive with a special purpose processor/computer built in--probably Linux based. Some how there's a paragraph missing from your release. Fill me/us in.
