recording time?

The obvious question, which they've so carefully dodged, is how long can this record before filling up it's "ample" FLASH memory?

It depends on the resolution and format your recording. Typically, at full 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080) and AVC format, you will get about 90 minutes out of an 8GB card.
