It looks like we have decided to move forward against Mitsubishi in a CLASS ACTION SUIT. It seems the more plaintiffs we have, the stronger the suit. Please contact the lawyer Harry Shulman of the Mills law Firm directly to be added to the list. In particular we need someone from California since that is the HQ of Mitsubishi. I would be interested in all problems from all the DLPS. I have had problems with replacement bulbs, light engines, Cablecard, DVD, TVGuide and non native 1080p resolution. I also understand many have suffered from airflow problems. This is in addition to Mitsubishi's inabilty to repair the stated light engine problem due to lack of parts for shipment.

Latest on my personal saga- Yesterday Mitsubishi advised a ship date of January 6th , 2008. This was after the all the other missed promised dates, super priority status and "2 more weeks. Obviously we will miss Santa. Any bets on the Easter Bunny?

All class action lawsuits in this industry have typically ended up with a manufacturer covering something they did not want to. On that account Mits has already stepped forward over the blocked airflow and a particular generation of light engine.

For this one it is highly unlikely a consumer can make any claim since this problem occurred fairly quickly falling under the manufacturers warranty.

If you paid out of pocket for this repair then the lawsuit is your best bet on getting reimbursed - another typical outcome for these situations

The real question is can you sue for loss of use, the main issue so far, and in that case I have yet to see a court do anything for that. That would fall under your state consumer protection laws if you have a law stating a time frame for getting parts.

I recently had my timer light fail on my Mitsu 62525. The problem was with the DM board. I called Mistsubishi and they offered to pay for a new board. I waited 3 weeks and when the part came today the techs said they sent me back the same board, but i was supposed to be "reworked". Sadly it didn't work and they have to send it back. Now I'm stuck without a tv again. If you are going through with this lawsuit please let me know.

Ya, I know... Again I would not count any action coming from that for your model. Bear in mind such legal action is not a matter of piling on, it is a matter of proving that a particular model or models have an unusually high failure rate. You won't be able to figure that out from a forum because you won't find the rest of the happy owners posting their happiness. :wink:

The only ones that usually make out in this type of lawsuit is the attorneys. They'll agree to some settlement that pays them millions and when the rest gets distributed to each member you'll get a check for $34.

There is definitely an ambulance chasing perspective to all this but this kind of suit is different. Key is all you are going to get is the repair fee if successful and that typically gets paid out long after the actual repair. Those who benefit right away are those who have the failure after, usually in the form of an extended warranty from the manufacturer for that specific failure.

Right - which Mitsubishi has already done. They extended the warranty and paid for the repairs AFAIK. The only thing left is to demand a replacement TV (not going to happen) or to be compensated for the time spent waiting on parts. And since a lot of these were handled via extended warranties (at least initially) you have the issue of how much they are to blame vs. Mits.

If Mits was refusing to extend the warranty or pay for the repairs that would be one thing. I just don't see much to be gained here other than attorney fees.
