My worst experience with cable came one Friday night when my cable went out. I called Time Warner Austin. (I'm naming names!) After having me reboot my DVR, etc., etc., they told me that it was the weekend and they couldn't send anyone out until Monday. Yeah, like I care about M-Th. That's why I have a DVR. The funny thing is that I lived in an apartment complex right across the street from Time Warner Austin. Razzies to them. It's been three years. I haven't looked back!

Cable Nightmares
Oldie but goodie.
July 1988. I moved from a small city to just outside the small city.
Called the cable company for installation at my new home, 5 new homes going up on the block.
Cable guy comes over, says they can't run a feed from the pole 200 feet away on the street corner to my home, has to be run from the other end of the street, about a quarter mile run.. and they will charge me the reasonable fee of $1,500. (they wanted me to pay to run fresh cable in front of all the new homes being built on the block. I said thanks but no thanks, went OTA until I signed up with DirecTV in 1994. In 1995 a cable sales droid knocked on my door offering cable install for $70. I told him to stick it.

Worst Cable Story
I had Insight for 11 years always paid my bill on time, Then June 2006 I changed jobs, and took a four dollar an hour pay cut. I was struggling in 2006 to pay my bills on time. The cable bill had to wait two weeks till I could pay. I called them and explained my problem and told them when I was coming in to take care of the bill. Thought every thing was fine. Latter that week I get a knock on the door, it was the cable guy. I told him I was bringing in the payment my next payday. He told me to sign buy the X on his form, not telling me what is was for. Pay day came, cashed my check, and went to their office to pay. They charge me 40 dollars more, because they said I was scheduled for disconnection. I guess a 10 year history of paying your bill on time doesn't mean anything! So I payed it and a few months went by and I few in the same boat , told them they had to wait a week. A few days went by, get home from work and they had me disconnected. They wanted an extra 40 bucks again. I had enough told them to leave it off, I paid them what I owed. went back to rabbit ears for 6 months or so.
I got a $2.50 raise this year. With all the money I saved not paying a cable bill, I was able to put up a good antenna and rotor. This Christmas I bought myself a Digital tuner / vhs / dvd recorder. It was the best thing I ever did. Where I am located I get about 18 channels. The best thing is THERE FREE!!! The HD channels look better than cable ever did. I hope to inspire more people to do the same.
So to you cable providers, I know a good place you can stick your cable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OUT OF THE 50 PLUS CHANNELS I USED TO GET, I ONLY MISS ABOUT 4 OF THEM, AND I CAN LIVE WITH THAT.
