got the HR20 a while back and the tech was going to install the AT9 but didn't do it because there were no additional channels available back then.
d* has called and said they have to install the AT9 and replace my 3lnb dish.
Current setup:
1. i only have 2 cables running from the 3lnb dish to a box outside my house.
2. from the 2 cables in the box outside of my house, one cable runs through the walls to my family room and HR20 receiver and the other cable runs through the walls to my bedroom sd receiver.
i understand the new AT9 has 4 cables running from the satellite. i don't want to punch holes through my house to run the 2 extra cables.
can i just use two cables from the AT9 dish, one to my HR20 receiver and one cable to my sd receiver and leave the other two outputs inactive? will that work?

Actually with just 1 cable running to the HR20 you will only be able to record 1 show at a time.twobben wrote:can i just use two cables from the AT9 dish, one to my HR20 receiver and one cable to my sd receiver and leave the other two outputs inactive? will that work?
If you run 1 to your SD receiver and 2 to the HR20 you can record 2 shows at a time on it.
Make sure that when they install the new dish thay also install a BBC (B-Band Converter) on each input to the HR20. FYI: You also can't duplex an OTA antenna with the dish for the HR20.
Also make sure the "box outside your house" is just a passthru and not a multiswitch. If it is
a multiswitch it would not pass all the new channels without being upgraded to a new one to handle the new band.

yeah, i know that with only one input into the HR20 that i have to watch the same channel any time i'm recording something because that's the current set up i have.
i just don't want to tear up my walls, etc. to get another cable to the HR20 but i'm not sure with the AT9 if i can still stick with just one input into the HR20 since there's 4 outputs out of the AT9 satellite.
