I haven't been successful finding a solution / post for my issue. Apologies if it exists somewhere (please point me to it if so!). Here's my setup and issue. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Sony KDL-40XBR2 HDTV
Pioneer VSX-84TXSi A/V receiver
Comcast [Motorola] 6416 Dual-Tuner HD DVR w/HDMI cable box
Samsung DVD-HD960 upconverting DVD player
(Almost ready to spring for BD or HD, but not quite yet.)
The receiver is new. Prior to that, I had a non-HDMI receiver and the DVD player was connected (for video only) directly to the TV via HDMI (and digital audio to receiver). Current connections are: both Motorola box and DVD player connected directly to receiver via HDMI; receiver to TV via HDMI.
DVD playback was fine before the new receiver was put into the picture (no pun intended).
Now, while watching a standard DVD (output on DVD player is set to 1080p), about every 5 minutes or so, the TV video goes black, while audio from receiver continues, then within a few seconds, video comes back. Why?
This was occurring while watching a 4:3 DVD and when the video came back, the TV had switched the aspect to 16:9. I was able to remedy that by changing the 4:3 default setting on the TV. But now, it seems to be doing a similar "signal check" only to find that the aspect is correct and the video is redisplayed as before (16:9 back to 16:9). Man, it's absolutely annoying. Every few minutes this happens.
I have looked and tweaked all video setting on the DVD player, receiver and TV with no success. No problems with the cable signal.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
