I went to a BB store this past weekend and saw the Samsung 56" DLP TV (HLS5679W - $3,599) with the new LED light engine. It was next to a 50" plasma display and you really couldn't see a difference. I was impressed.
So much, that I plan to wait for a larger display that utilizes the LED light source in place of the color wheel.
Does anybody here know if Samsung is planning on putting out a 61" DLP with this technology? I'd rather wait a little while longer and get that instead of getting the other kind now.
Any suggestions, advice is much appreciated.

Samsung 56in LED Engine DLP
Hello,
I'm trying to decide on buying one of the 3 TV's below. Is this new LED Engine from Samsung better as far as picture...etc.? It shows on some sites to be 10000:1 or 5000:1 or 4000:1 contrast ratio. I'm a little confused with different sites showing different ratios. Anyway, I was going to purchase it but I can't find anything such as reviews that say it is above and beyond better than the lamp/wheel DLP's. The 3 below are what I am considering so please let me know ASAP what you recommend and why. It would be much appreciated.
1) Samsung HLS5679W
2) Samsung HLS6187W or HLS6188W (I don't know the difference in them)
3) Mitsubishi WS65732 or WS65731(I don't know the difference in them)
Out of the 3 above what are the differences as far as picture, features, quality. I don't care about the price. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I saw the HLS6187W and the WS65731 in BestBuy and like them both and the only difference I saw was the brightness difference. The Mitsu being a little darker.
I'm really interested in the LED Engine by Samsung but I've never seen it and I don't know anyone that has ever seen one including BestBuy.
Thank you in advance.

This is a first generation product for the light source so keep that in mind.
Why buy it?
You won't have to replace lamps at $200-300 per pop.
No color wheel but keep in mind that the function of flashing red and green and blue separately still must be done and that is what causes the rainbow artifact. High speed color wheels and fast LEDs in this case reduce or eliminate this effect; I do believe Samsung is claiming elimination.
Higher light output is yet another claim but that can only be put into perspective when compared to how black it can go; dynamic range. They may be employing an iris/gamma technique using instead LED light output adjustment on the fly but the iris/gamma technique is far better at producing better numbers and creating the illusion of a decent gamma response rather than accurate images. DLP has great dynamic range naturally, doesn't need any help, so this feature is nothing but a spec war, sales gimmick bell and whistle. All that means is turn off the feature...
Have not seen or calibrated one though... If this is casual viewing I suggest keeping the above in mind. If calibration is part of your purchase than I suggest getting with your local ISF calibrator and see what he can dig up.

So pretty much the only thing that I would get out of it is not changing the bulbs every few years and not a better picture quality? With that being said and sounding like all things are equal except the bulb replacement I can just get the larger TV at about the same price? I'm also confused as to how someone would calibrate this new LED engine TV. I've called around and the calibrators around here did not even know this technology was available yet. That concerns me as I am an avid gamer and HD movie watcher so if no one can calibrate it then I'm left with deciding if I want to be the first on the block to try the new technology or just go with tried and true, correct?
I was really wanting to order one of these products tomorrow so I'll ask you this last set of questions before I go.
Which one out of the 3 that I listed would you buy and why? If you were buying any DLP TV which one (brand/size) would you buy? You might not be able to answer that last question due to being seen as partial to a brand but hopefully you can answer the one based on my 3 choices.
Again, I appreciate it and thank you for indulging me. This is a big purchase for me and I really don't want to mess it up.
Thank you,
