Plot - "Jean Gilkyson is on the run with her young daughter Griff from her abusive boyfriend and decides to seek refuge at her father-in-law's, Einar, ranch. The problem is, Einar is still in shock from his only son's death a decade ago and since then, they haven't been close - as he blames her for his death. Einar's solitary life with his only friend Mitch is turned upside down after Jean's arrival."

I really enjoyed this heartfelt story with its excellent cast. Recommended.

An Unfinished Life - DVD
Jean Gilkyson and her daughter have had enough so they leave her abusive boy friend. Left between a rock and hard place her only way out unfortunately is to head to the only family she has, Einar Gilkyson, a crusty old cowboy in Wyoming chock full of a bad attitude.
The screenplay is spectacular delivering common conversations amongst common folk in common relationships without a hint of Hollywood. Robert Redford, Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Lopez and new comer Camryn Manheim are the four main characters doing an outstanding job of delivering the lines plus many other talented folk. In the end, the reality of delivery made us feel we could reach out and actually touch these people!
The DVD was rather soft with horizontal edge enhancement clearly seen through out. A real shame this was not released in HD DVD as there is some really beautiful cinematography.
