I sure hope so and would like to see the proof before making the purchase! The AX100U delivers the most elegant and natural video image we have yet seen from LCD technology. By comparison, last year's AE900 was an incremental step beyond the formidable AE700, but this year the AX100U represents a very significant step to a whole new level of performance. Black levels are noticeably improved, and the subtle softness that we found in the AE900 is entirely gone. The AX100U's image is extremely sharp and clean.
I lost my Samsung SPH710AE for a week and hooked up my Panasonic PTAE700. Could not stand it. While I used it for PC gaming and SD video, due to convenience, if it came ona disc it was watched upstairs on the Samsung HLP5063 via 480P to boot. That is how bad the blacks and clarity are on that Panny. Definitely a great entry level projector but entry level is what it is!

Yeah, but I still like the fact that the pannys don't show screendoor...I "really" hate that!. I have sold or traded much more expensive projectors just because of seeing screen door at ten ft away. That's why I'm hoping the new Panny 1080P will have the best of all worlds...From the reviews so far, it is the best "all around" projector ever brought to market...I really want one now...
Has powered zoom to boot!
