Many people think TV antennas are unattractive. Will painting an antenna to make it less visible affect the way it performs? No. Dielectrics affect antennas, but a layer of paint is too thin for this effect to be significant. Many cell phone antennas are painted black. HAM radio operators often use long-wire antennas that have an enamel coating.
