TV: Line in the middle, up and down - no picture

This uncommon failure for CRT displays is called horizontal collapse and while it does not mean your picture tube needs to be replaced it is time to call service to have it repaired. Do not leave the TV on in this condition or that line may become permanent requiring a new picture tube.
