Walking Tall - 2004

Post by Richard »

Chris Vaughn (Rock) returns home from eight years in the special forces to find a much different town than what he left behind and sets out to do something about it. This movie bears little resemblance to the 1973 version in tone and pushes towards the outlandish in scope. If you are looking for a movie where the righteous have their day then this may be up your alley.

I really look forward to a movie that will put the Rock on the road map as a decent actor as he seems to have the capability but constantly ends up with B movies.

Recommended for light guy flick entertainment.

Thanks Richard. I thought this was the same story with Rock playing Buford Pusser. I guess not. I'll put it on the Netflix list.

I did too and was really looking forward to seeing the Rock's performance along those lines.

That said, I don't know why we would think a black actor could play a white man in a true story. Duh! That would be like using white actors for the black regiment in Glory!?!? I guess we are color blind

black actor
Actually he's African-American and Samoan.

But you'd think if the story and characters were different that they'd use a different name for the movie. Talk about deceptive advertising.

The opener to the movie says "Inspired by a true story"... and ends with "in memorium of Buford Pusser or dedicated to"...

I agree, they should have just changed the name.
