direct view
Typically refers to CRT display technology. It is the glass screen you have been viewing for years coming in 13-40" sizes. Technically a plasma or LCD flat panel is direct view as well since direct view implies that you are directly viewing the light source rather than a reflection such as RPTV or FPTV.
