Antenna Adjacent channel causing reception problem

If there's anybody in the Atlanta area, getting WGCL OTA, have you had any problems in the last week? I went from great reception to NO reception in one day and I haven't been able to get any signal in a week. No changes as home. And I even used a backup SIR-T151 STB with the same results. All other DTV stations are fine... just WGCL.

hey Grumpy... I've had the same problem of late... but, I've had them before... I live 85 to 90 miles away and thought they were using low power, when I couldn't get them... fortunately for me I live about 20 miles from the Macon CBS station... the only Atlanta station I get around the clock with no problems is WUPA, which I thought was probably because they were at full power... the rest are great after dark and so so (in and out) during the day... under ideal conditions, I get a lock on low power ATLC 42, which was WTHC when it first locked in... is either of the PBS stations on the air yet... I seen where WGTV had applied for a relocation to channel 12... maybe that's their holdup... I also remember WGCL had some kind of technical problem a couple of months ago and were down a couple of weeks, waiting on replacement parts...

Grumpy,

Having seen you antenna and your location during your ISF calibration here is what I would suggest.

Get a channel Master 4228 and a rotor. That will likely solve your problem and also improve consistency with the others. The antenna you have does not have enough real gain. NBC should still work and if not then you can always add a VHF only like many in Atlanta have done.

Just got off the phone and this is unofficially official... (that means the
little birdie who told me is to remain anonymous)

WTBS, 20, increased their power to 1 megawatts. This may cause adjacent
channel interference and noise floor problems with WGCL, 19. Those receivers
that excel at selectivity should not be affected. Sorry, don?t know which ones
those are but in general the OTA only receivers do better than the satellite
receivers I am told.

The only solution is for WGCL to increase their power which will require FCC
approval and a huge capitol outlay to build out their plant. WGCL has done
nothing on their end to cause any of the problems that may be occurring for
some individuals.

Also let us not forget that satellite receivers received new software last
week forcing some to use 19 rather than 46 to receive WGCL DTV. Please give
this a try before posting a problem.

This is not anybodies fault and beyond the control of WGCL.

The broadcasters who monitor this board would sincerely appreciate the group
not jumping to erroneous conclusions in the future and please simply report
your problem without any whining; Just the facts please. Please include your
receiver model number to assist the group and broadcasters in making sense of
yours and others problems.

Well... that stinks, I guess. The information is valuable, but certainly not what I wanted to hear. I won't spend any more effort on getting a 4228 on the roof, since it's apparently not going to help (I read on the ahdtv site where another Atlantan had 4228 and lost WGCL too). So much for Football season weekends , but at least I'll be getting more things done around the house (wife -> ) !

Grumpy - where are you located? I'm near Suwanee and still get 46 with my 4228 and a rotor and pre-amp.
