Well, lets see....
The ONLY advantage that HD has over regular tv is the IMAGE QUALITY...
So the smart thing to do, in competing with regular tv, is to offer MORE, crappy HD, right ??
Broadcasters are selling their viewers short.

I want REAL HD, if you can only offer 10 channels of REAL HD, or 30 channels of low quality "hd", I'll take the 10 every time.

I think regulators need to be flexible in allowing broadcasters to have omnibus channels where they put all of their HD programming from different sources. Forcing broadcasters to send the whole channel, regardless of amount of actual HD offerings doesn't serve the public's needs at this time.
Maybe when broadcasters have increased their bandwidth capabilities, or when we've gone to a more efficient compression scheme, then revert to forcing them to carry the entire channel.
