I own a Sony Bravia KDL KDL-46W4100. Actually I own two. I purchased both two years ago. One of them started showing squares and rectangles of discoloration six months ago. It started with one, then two, now there's tons. I've inserted a link to an image of the screen below. What's causing this? I went to Sony support, but it's not under warranty. Is it worth having someone come by and diagnose this? Or is the cause obvious? If so, what's the likely cost of repair? I like this television a lot, but don't want to spend the cost of a new television repairing this. Thanks.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-46W4100 Screen Issues
Hi aniehenke - - -
Sooory to convey "sad news" - but - there is a very slim chance of finding an inexpensive "repair!"
Over the past half-dozen years, I as well have acquired a number of Sony HDTVs, both for Gifts as well as myself {an 'up/down' Home}.
* - At a town having an actual "Sonystyle" store, the costs just to "bench examine" & thereby provide a solid, accurate Estimate-to-repair will be almost too much in & of itself! ....very "proud places!"
* - Even at an "after-market" but qualified Repair Shop, you'd need to ascertain that whatever their Estimate Fee might be would also "apply-in-full" to the required repair, should you decide to authorize same.
* - Sony has lost huge sums for many consecutive Qtrs on their HDTV Products.
* - Futher, announced recently @ many of the Electronic Media Sources, Sony Corporation has made their 'Decision' to essential get-out-of-their-HDTV Product Business, instead only leasing that "SONY" decal to "Others' from around-this-Globe and with "Them" doing all of the remainder, including future Engineering!
* - SO ... our "days" of considering "SONY" to be a stalwart TV House are essentially long-gone!
* - Do bear in mind that literally, all-new 42" Plasma Sets are currently available {with a 12 months warranty, obviously!} for under $500 and, at times, on "promotion" under $400, even - - - I did so, on 11/11/11.
