Americans are reaching the breaking point with ever-escalating costs of pay television. The rising cost of sports programming is a big reason.

Yes. Cost is an issue for me. No one in this house ever watches ESPN, not to mention ESPN2 ... ESPNn.

The other part of the equation is that DirecTV at least is cluttered with junk channels they must carry to get the one or two desirable channels offered by a vendor.

Perhaps in some alternate universe there are carriers who concentrate on providing quality instead of quantity. Meanwhile, aside from premium channels and networks, there are probably only 5 or 6 channels we watch on any sort of routine basis. We'd probably watch BBCA if A) junk channels and/or costs hadn't queezed their HD offering from DTV and B) BBCA would stop bleeping, censoring, and otherwide editing their shows for the American audience. Seems the old country still can't believe that their younger brothers are adult enough to take Being Human uncensored.

Costs is I am sure is every consumers concern. HDTV is a great feature for a better movie watching experience; however it's not needed as of now. Plus there are promotions out there all the time. For instance, HD Free for Life as a qualified DISH Network customer with the Top package. That right there pretty much solves the HD cost.
