oily resudue or film on screen of NEW 40' 1080p RCA tv

Post by 808hdtvfan »

I bought this yesterday at the local kmart, it was NEW, in a factory sealed box. It was $429, normaly like $569. Its rca model 40LA45RQ ,
a 40' lcd 1080p hdtv.

I have always bought RCA hdtvs and have never had this issue with them. The screen appears to have some kind of a residue on it, like a dirty film. Its thicker in some places then in others, so its not uniform. When you shine a LED flashlight on the screen, you can see it plain as day. you can tell it was cleaned at the factory because of the streaks where this film is not a bad. This film/scum is NOT EVENLY PLACED on the screeen, so I doubt its any kind of coating. Anyway, so I decided to try to try to clean it with some phillips hdtv cleaning gel. It took little of it off, about 20%. I cleaned it 3 times with 2 CLEAN soft micro fibre cloths, spraying the fluid ONTO THE CLOTH not the screen, and wiped it from top to bottom.
It removed SOME of the scum, but not all. There are no scratches on lcd at all, spotless.

If you take your finger wad LIGHTLY press on the scum and move finger, it wipes CLEAN. Any ideas how to get the rest of this residue off or what Im doing wrong? Picture is flawless, ultra sharp and bight, and you only notice it when DIRECT SUNLIGHT hits the screen. otherwide its invisible to the eye. I would like to remove whats left because I am sure its degrading the picture to SOME degree.

Thanks in advance for your help, and Aloha!

NO set is ever supposed to be installed in such a way as to be "washed-out" by bright, direct sunshine!"

In my experiences - - that set should have been "Left alone" / Returned the very same day for a full refund, BEFORE you "scrubbed & burnished it!"!...Better "try to" anyway, getting that carton out-of-the-trash! {Say Nothing!}

Kmart-Sears is a definite "NO-NO" in addition to that particular set, too!

You are 5 - 6 hours behind the mainland {no silly DST!} - - get there This Morning, as soon as they open their doors!

Your COSTCOs [they always add a year's additional warranty!] and / or SAMsClub would have been FAR better!

"CONGRATS" on having the distinct pleasure of living in Hawaii! ... we did for (5) years @ The Ilikai on Ala Moana Blvd & wished that we might have stayed forever!

+ + + + + +

" ..RCA named-Products.."

You apparently aren't aware of the fact that your "RCA" Corporation has been GONE for a very long interval!

Many famous "Names-from-our-Past" have been leased / sold / acquired / taken over by the worst manufacturers throughout this Globe!
Most aren't really worth the Carton in which they are shipped in to the US, in my opinion, either.

"IF it sounds too good to be true.." really applies!
