Sony LCD KDL46W3000 - right side darker with lines

Post by uni4mer »

I noticed the right side of the screen was darker and had horizontal lines. Is this the lamp? Or is there a lamp in these? Purchased 9/2007.

Hi . . .

Not in the sense of a Projection TV & (1) lamp .... a series of fluorescent tubes, yes.

(back) uni4mer . . .

Although the wrong display size, scroll down about halfway to read about the "WCG-CCFL"

a.k.a ... 'wide color gamut / cold cathode fluorescent lamps .."

Did not see it. Note: this condition occurs when first turned on and disappears after touching cabinet. Nothing has been changed in the environment.

In that case it must be an electrical grounding issue inside the cabinet. When you touch it you complete the ground. Does it have a 2 or 3 prong electrical plug?

3 prong grounded plug. Also plugged in first to a surge suppressor. Has always been plugged in like this since install 2007.

Try plugging it directly into the wall - probably won't make a difference but it's free.......

If you want to DIY I'd CAREFULLY look for loose wires or connections inside the case. Otherwise you need a repair person.

There is something going on with the inverters or fluorescent tubes - time for service!
