InFocus:Visions - HDNet

Post by Dave3putt »

These one hour travelogs use low altitude, low angle HD aerial video to showcase different parts of the globe. We have seen seven of them so far, including Italy (2), Greece, Sicily, Germany (2), and France, with New York City coming up. The HD is some of the best I have seen on DirecTV. Many shots are from under a hundred feet. They seem to have figured out how to minimize motion blurring, with the camera often panning backwards while the helicopter flies forward. Marvelous results. They also have 5.1 audio with music and narration applicable to the region. A great history, culture, and geography lesson. The only downside so far is you start wondering how many castles and churches can there be out there? Lots. :)

Amazon, B&N for starters. Not all are available on Blu-ray yet. Google 'em.

InFocus: Visions DVDs, where to buy them.

Post by bigmutt »

thanks for the suggestion;
I googled until my fingertips were sore: found nothing.
Of course Amazon and ebay were the first places I check, and there are none listed on either Amazon or ebay.
That's why I'm resorting to posting on a few of the other sites that came up when I googled it, like this site.

So far I've totally struck out in finding ANY of the episodes for sale anywhere.

So if anyone else has any suggestions, I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks.

Thanks very much, Dave3Putt;
I appreciate you taking the time to post those links.

As it happens, I already own a number of "Visions" dvds and bluray discs, and the one's I am trying to find (to buy) are different from these European visions productions.
One, for example, is all about New York city, and it was produced in 2004. It is broadcast every so often on HDNet channel, where it's called "InFocus:Visions" New York. The producers are different than the other "Visions" offerings, and even when I try googling those producers, etc. I come up empty as far as finding a source for these dvds.

Thanks very much for looking for these.

I believe all the Visions DVD's have PBS origins-WLIW in New York. The "Infocus" part of the title you are looking for is just a HDNet program header. If you already have some of these then you should know the title of the one you are looking for is "Visions of New York City". Again, PBS. Good luck!

Try "shoppbs.org" the Travel section. There you will find most of the InFocus Visions DVDs, and some are in BluRay.
