What Comcast seems to be doing is obscuring the fact that they don't provide any HD channels for most users. Here in North NJ, we only have 20 HD channels and no new channels for the foreseeable future. While being able to view an episode of SAMANTHA WHO OnDemand may be appealing for some, it is no substitute for adding channels (as these programs can be recorded by a viewer to their DVR). But we will be denied SCI-FI HD, MGM-HD, CNN-HD, FX HD, etc. etc. etc. And, to thank us for accepting the lack of HD channels, Comcast gave us a whopping rate hike!

Exactly. People thought the sat companies were misleading when they advertised HD channels that weren't available to all subscribers (meaning they were advertising, say, 75 HD channels when an individual could only legitimately receive 65). This is 100 times more misleading.

I have noticed DirecTV advertising the number of HD CHANNELS and how that blows away anything cable is currently offering.

I thought they should counter by taking every HD show being shown on every HD channel in a 24 hour period and saying that they have that many HD programs available each day (which would be in the thousands). But that would just be more deception.

Cable sucks.

Most consumers don't do any research, so that will appeal to them. Me personally, I have UVerse, and other than the HDMI issue that may never get resolved since the OS is a Microsoft product, the channel lineup is phenomenal. I have Fox News and Business, CNNHD, CNBC HD, most of Showtime and HBO channels in HD, and a lot more, including MGM, NASA, Smithsonian and Speed HD. With the Whole Home DVR capabilities, UVerse should be able to pick up some market share as they expand. Oh, and my Internet from UVerse is 18MPS now.
