I was hoping that something new would come out in place of the fading SACD and DVD-A format. Sony has a new system based on Blu-Ray called "Blu Spec CD.

What audiophiles are waiting for is Blu-Ray Profile 3.0 or BD-audio which will commonly support 24bit 192Khz PCM rather than the occasional special titles that were provided by DVD-Audio.
Blu-spec CD is nothing more than allowing blu-ray pressing plants to add the CD spec to their offerings and/or it may be something similar to HQCD, an enhancement of the generic 16 bit 44Khz red book spec.
