HELP!-New Home Theater/HD Display problem

Post by bsmith6356 »

I have a 40" Samsung 1080i and a cable box from Time Warner cable. I recently bought a Home Theater system, upgraded all cables to HDMI and component cabling.

I started having a problem recently that I cannot figure out. When I change to "Guide" to display tv channel programming, I can always see the current channel I'm on at top right of screen. When I exit Guide, my picture stays ONLY in the top right 1/4 of screen.

The only way I can fix it is to change channels TO AN HD channel. If I change the channel to a non-HD channel, it does not fix the problem. I have played with settings on TV, Cable Box and Home Theater system and can't seem to fix it.

I have PIP turned off.

Any suggestions?

It's the cable box. The TV doesn't even know there's a box in the upper right corner - all it sees is a 1920x1080 picture - the cable box decides what goes where in the picture.

Thanks for responding!

Something wrong with the box, or a setting that needs to be changed?

Yes! :D

Seriously though - it doesn't sound like a setting because that's not normal behavior under any circumstance. It sounds like a hardware or software bug. Try getting the latest firmware for your box and if that doesn't fix it have it swapped out.
