I don''t know if this will help, but we just had to return our WD-62725 under extended warranty to have the chassis repaired/replaced. Purchased unit in December 2004. If you need more info, let me know.

Our WD-62725 just failed with the blinking green light problem. I was wondering what the resolution of your own case was. This forum died down a year ago except for your post.
I contacted Mit before I realized that this was such a widespread problem, and all the csr did was to give me the names of two authorized repair shops. I also found a web site that gave do-it-yourself repair procedures; the guy apparently repaired his own set for only the cost of the faulty capacitors, less than $5.00. In my youth I did some of that kind of work, so I know it's possible. You can also get the repair manual from online sources for about $16. I wonder if anyone else has gone this route.
Thanks.

is it too late to have our names added to the class action lawsuit against Mitsubishi for our model WD62525?

I guess what I see (again) is a failure of Mits wanting to stay in the consumer big-screen game. The marketplace will crush Mitsubishi display products and they will be right-sized or go under. Too many folks will show up at the "Big Screen Store" with too many indelicate questions. Ya get an extended warrantee - why?
Mits has design and/or production/quality issues - probably DNA design issues that need to be addressed or the "Pinto" name will stick.

Hi peachyjyun,
There never was a class action lawsuit and if one had been victorious you would have been notified provided you filled out your warranty card. Is the problem that you can't come up with a sales receipt?
Hey Jim,
No manufacturer has a halo over their heads and it's all about how you deal with a problem. A great recent example...
Sony LCD KDL-52XBR4 - gray blotchy lines or multi-colored areas in picture

IMO, the way Mitsubishi is handling this problem is far better and will help more customers over the long haul than what a lawsuit would have provided.
IMO, Mitsubishi's arrogant mistake was resting on their performance laurels years ago and making products that no longer provided that. This will be the first year Mitsubishi has returned to the game with products that can be calibrated!
IMO, Mitsubishi's greatest mistake was counting on DLP RP and not getting in the LCD game 2 years earlier. Out in the trenches many of my loyal Mits customers wonder what happened to them because they don't see Mits in the stores - amongst all those sexy flat panels. Hopefully they didn't wait too long and can get a grip in the market again...
Otherwise, DLP RP is still the best bargain out there per screen inch for a one piece display especially if you are looking for
BIG - 60 inches plus!

Corporately, no one could ever accuse Mitsubishi of being humble.
I think your comments are right on, Richard. Sometimes they are their own worst enemy. They have, however, taken pretty good care of most of our clients with the V2 problems. Some even got new sets if they had repeated problems, even with sets that were 5 years old. The people who did not come out well on it are mostly those who bought the sets used or did not deal with a quality dealer that was looking out for their clients.

We are on the same-ish page Richard. Yes, Mits has gone down-hill I think you wrote. I wasn't responding to this particular line or model issue. I was broad-brushing a perception that Mits hasn't had their eye on the ball for some time now. I've (actually, yes) read your Mits review(s)?. I know you to be anal and surgical and/but I got the vague impression that you don't really like the way Mits has gone - but protect them at the same time. That's understandable.
Broad-brushing again, these re-current design or quality issues will sink Mitsubishi in this market and I would hate that. Those types of issues are deep issues and come from high-up direction, flowed down to good engineers. The good people at Mits know they are shipping not-quite-right DNA shee-tah don't you think?

IME, other than the V26 (first generation DLP) their products have been quite reliable. One of the dealers that I service sells lots of them and I rarely see problems at all.

The challenge with a review is the person reading it has their own concept of what performance is and when the picture is good enough. I have to tackle both sides of that equation in my final to support most of the readers.
The only review you could be speaking of is the Mits LCD. I personally do not care for a display that can't be calibrated. My review sample did a pretty good job of being able to at least get in the ballpark with the customer menu. With the right sources, HD scan rates only, I can recommend it provided you are not calibrating. That's not protection, just a reasonable outcome.
Putting it in Perspective... that's always at the end of my reviews.
