Will the DVD standards war delay your 1080p purchase?

If there were multiple next generation DVD standards and a healthy amount of 1080p content became available on each, would you buy a 1080p TV at the same time or delay your purchase until there was a winner in the standards war?

I feel like this is the way to go until the "BETA vs VHS" wars of the early 21st century is won.
I won't argue with your decision to not purchase the new technology. It's your decision.

However, there is no way that an upconverted 480i source (i.e., your DVD player) equals either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray input into a properly calibrated HD TV. One starts with 480 lines of resolution and the other with 1080. I have both a Blu Ray (PS3) and a Denon 2910 upconverting DVD player feeding an ISF'ed Sony SXRD. The difference is very obvious. I've joined Netflix specifically to get Blu Ray movies. A few months ago I was very satisfied with the Denon and regular DVD movies. Now I feel "cheated" if I am restricted to a regular DVD.

STILL waiting....

Oh, and I would have bought YEARS ago if they would have knocked off this "war" crap and just decided on a format! Just think how much the makers of the players and the DVDs have lost beccause of this stupidity. It's almost as bad as dealing with DirecTV (or a cable company....)!
