The powerlight blinks red 8 times after lamp goes out. Does that 8 times mean anything? I do not have a service manual, can anyone help?
I disconnect the TV from the outlet wait a while and replug it and switch it on and it's OK for an undetermine period, can be 2 hrs, 2 days, weeks or months.
It sometimes also shuts down and blinks green like for the normal cooling period and restarts by itself.
It's the 3rd lamp and it has about 3000 hrs but it's been doing this since it had 30 or so days, less frequent then as I recall but not much.
By the way, this one is a phillips for what it's worth.
Please respond
P.S. As for the original lamp, apparently they are not available any more, my brother inlaw just tried tobuy one a couple of weeks ago and was told by the dealer "no stock anywhere". He had to get an after market one purchased by the dealer. I coud not get the make.
Thanks

I am sorry if I posted on the same forum, I realy wanted to post on a different one.
The reason is simple, I got an answer from someone that did not understand the question and gave me a sale pitch for the newer TV.
I am 74 years old and very much aware of what 's on the market today.
My question remains, "Why the 8 flashes and do they mean anything"?
If you dont know, just say "i dono" and I'll understand that your not a technitian and have nothing to do on a Service and repair forum.
Oh, and by the way I also know how tho count and evaluate the repairs.
Salutations

Hello debes7 ..
Oh, I did totally-understand that same POST each time ...and, we're essentially the same in age, by-the-way.
Perhaps what YOU might never have "grasped" or "Understood" was the simple fact that either the power supply for that Lamp is "sick" or going out and / or there are so many other items on-going inside that very-obsolete TV that at the prevailing shop rates for Bench Investigation / Evaluation, "charges to do so" will quickly exceed the cost of that Brand-new HDTV Set to which I referred.
After the exact component(s) needing replacement might have been identified, there will be the problem that for the most part, zero new parts exist anymore ...hence, again, a new HDTV is less-expensive.
By-all-means, one may re-post in as many of these Various Department as one would care to do.
