bue ray video
I have an older Sony HDTV. It does have HDMI inputs only component. I understand that if I purchase a Blue Ray player that even if it has component connections they will only output 480p. Do I have any options for the TV and Blue Ray where I can get the full 1090p?

HDMI connection will give you 1080p if your set supports it. For many years this was also also true for component. Definitely up to 1080i. Howver they forced the Blu-ray association to make changes. You will need to get your hands on an older player. I believe the cutoff was 2010.
The AACS Adopter Agreement states that "any Licensed Player manufactured after December 31, 2010, shall limit analog video outputs for Decrypted AACS Content to SD Interlace Modes only."
