Is it just me, or was there absolutely nothing of substance in this article? I know Dolby has a passive glasses 3D, I saw Avatar in it and liked it. But that needs an active projection - or do they have a color shifter for displays hidding somewhere?

More questions than answers
Steve,
You are not alone, I had the same exact impression when I first read it, however, this is not actually an article produced by our HDTV Magazine but rather a press release reprinted as originally published by Dolby as news, Shane may want to add to this.
Could Dolby have been more specific about what exactly is the product? yes, but usually press releases leave more questions open than what they convey and are produced by PR people that like to inflate words while having little technical knowledge.
You can be sure that I will be interested in more details, especially the part of glasses-free application with Philips, considering that the company is known to have abandoned 3D autostereoscopic and later direct involvement with TV manufacturing alltogheter, and other companies like 3Dfusion adquired their patents for glasses-free 3DTV.
I did not attend NAB because I am still in China so I cannot provide direct impressions from the show but perhaps the following link can provide you with a bit more information than the press release:
