I have a Sony KDL-52XBR4 and have had it for 3.5 years. Lessoned learned the hard way. I beg to differ with above posters that an extended warranty on a Bentley is the correct approach. No, you extend the warranty on a cheap product so that you can take advantage of the low price and avoid te higher risk of it falling apart. Using this Sony 52XBR4 as the poster child. I would gladly, have hindsight to guide me, have purchased a $1200 LCD TV and paid the price for an extended warranty, but instead I chose the flag-ship Sony, because it was worth it to get the best, for a price....the best doesn't come cheap. In this case it does. LCD replacement required...Should have gone cheap and bought a warranty in lieu of buying the best and expecting quality/reliability. Lessoned learned...go with the Sammy.

No doubt, you'll not be "interested" but, for others that might not yet know of it, SONY CORP made their decision quite some time ago to "rid themselves" of the HDTV Business ....
From about year end '11 onward ... or, until as long as it requires to wind down, only the 'Decal' will be a distant reminder of what-used-to-be ..."
ALL but that Name will have been "farmed-out" to Global Assemblers, including future engineering responsibilities! ... even the 'Name" will be leased-out, in fact.
So goes another "Name House!"
