Sony’s bringing 4K to the home, but Sanyo is not long for this world. And 3D projectors are popular, but not very profitable.

Re: HDTV Expert - Life (and Death) Go On In The Projector Wo
Pete,
Bruce Berkoff used to be a senior officer at LG-Philips LCD (now LG Display), and has since moved on to Applied Materials. In his presentations he always referred to the WAF - the Wife Acceptance Factor. His point was always that it didn't matter how good the technical specs were, if the display didn't look good it wasn't going to find its way to your living room.
One difference between a 90-inch display and a 90-inch screen with front projector is indeed the WAF. I can drop the screen in front of the paneled wall, oak mantle and bookcases surrounding the stone fireplace and raise it to the ceiling when the video is finished. The front projector sits unobtrusively on a table or bookcase at the other end of the room. Not the case with a display unless I rig a support to lift it flat to the ceiling (like an overhead garage door) when the video's over.
