I just couldn't resist buying it at that price just out of pure curiosity and no expectation it would actually work. I plugged it into the hdmi output of my Denon 2807 and plugged in to one of the 2 outputs using my 10 meter hdmi cord to my Sanyo Z4. I was utterly shocked that it worked. I am not sure but what there might have been some very slight loss of detail. So close it could just be my imagination. Digital is usually so there or not there with no gradations. There were no sparklies or HDCP hand shake problems. I haven't plugged in a 2nd hdtv yet but will eventually get around to it and report back if it works with both outputs plugged in. I would like to run a 2nd HDMI to my computer monitor in the same room, but not bad enough to spend several hundred $. Anyone else try one of these or a similar cheapo product?
Thanks for the link. Went there and the splitter has this note:

"This device is not HDCP compliant." Can you tell me what that means? Thanks.

It could easily need a cleaning of the optics and mirror.

HDCP is the digital handshake that must occur between the source and display for you to see an image or for you to see that image at an HD scan rate.

The problem with a passive splitter is this is not an analog application, it is a digital communications application. The poster has yet to confirm that he can connect two displays and everything works.

His was an attempt at a cheap solution to counteract the known expensive solution which is an active splitter running over $200.

What is your application for two HDMI outputs?

"What is your application for two HDMI outputs?"

Richard,

Right now the HDMI outputs from a DirecTV HD-DVR and a Sony DVD Changer go to the HDMI inputs on a Yamaha RX-2600-- A/V receiver. The Yamaha only has one HDMI output and it goes to a Sony SXRD TV. I'd like to add a video projector with HDMI so I could watch some sports programs on a big projector sceen as well as DVD movies without having to jump through too many hoops to do it. I'd settle for just using component cables from these devices to a projector if there is a projector that has two sets of component inputs but the bigger problem is that the DirecTV HD-DVR doesn't output HDMI and compoent signals at the same time and that might be true of the Sony DVD player too, not sure. I'm looking for ideas/solution that doesn't require me to unplug cables or move equipment around or flipping A/B type switches, etc.

Thanks,

Use an active splitter from Geffen as an example...
