Suitable uses
David, this projector is rated at less than 8 lumens, and presumably that comes from the manufacturer. That's less than a nightlight. So you really need to have a darkened room to be able to see anything. I expect that a 40 to 50 inch image may be the limit, even after letting your night vision accomodate. Anything larger will probably drop to about Pleides brightness levels. And remember the low resolution is not going represent star fields with much fidelity. Showing photos will probably fare better with its low resolution, but again you'll need to have the lights out in order to see them at any significant size. (To get a wall-sized display, you may have to buy a bunch of them and tile the images; a standard business projector might be cheaper and easier.)

I have always wanted to build the worlds smallest and cheapest Home Theater - I have a 6' x 9' attic room that would be perfect. One seat - no kids, no wife, no brothers-in-law, you get the picture.
But with this projector ...I am envisioning a Home Theater in a Box.
Literally in a box.
Imagine a box the length of a reclining lawn chair - feet at the screen - 5.1 speakers using raw cones mounted to the box - eg. car speakers - and a small sub under the chair. The only trick would be to get the receiver and source boxes mounted inside (under the chair? or outside the box and still controllable. Finally the recliner must be low enough so the projector is not blowing hot air into my face... (or in this case just blocking the view).
All this predicated on spare and Craigslist deals on the parts. I bet a complete home theater could come in under $200 - depending on whether the box has to be purchased.
I'm still working on the concepts of sound-reflection and box resonance management.
And getting enough breathable air into the box.
