Guyed tower video

Post by fsense »

Very interesting video. Unlike the producer of the video, I'll bet the climbers know it's a "guyed tower" and not a "gided tower". And, I don't believe for a second that OSHA, the climbers company or their insurance company would say that free-climbing is permitted.

The Video Got Pulled

Post by alfredpoor »

You're on track about OSHA, as it appears that maybe it does not sanction free-climbing. According to the TV Technology article, the video got pulled from the original site and YouTube because of concerns about the free-climbing aspect. Of course, by then it was too late to "unring" that bell, and the video had escaped into the wild, which is why I was able to post a link to it.

You could roll me up in bubble wrap and use 50 safety straps, and I still wouldn't climb that thing!

Just saw a similar video posted from another group. According the guy narrating, there are times during the climb when there is no safety harness.
