A Capitol Forth - What a dissapointment

Post by johnmiddleton »

A Capitol Fourth on PBS

What happened to the tribute to our vets?
This year’s performance was a BIG disappointment. In years past, I have had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat when they told the courageous stories of our veterans. I guess it has become just another holiday along with Memorial Day and Labor Day. Just get another day off of work…
PBS really missed the mark on this one!
Next year I will invite vetrens to my home to thank them and keep PBS turned off.

You've got your holidays mixed up John. The courageous veterans stories are told at the Memorial day function, as is appropriate. A Capitol Fourth has always been about celebration, I was there in 1985. Remember this is America's birthday.

That said, there were a few video shots of our fighting forces that had been maimed in the audience as well as a mention of thank you to those serving by Jimmy Smits.
