Connecting Directv to ATSC tv tuner.

Connecting Directv to ATSC tv tuner.
I've got 2 Directv rec. that I'm trying to connect to 8 ATSC tv's. Is this possible through RG6? All the cable is already there so I'm trying to avoid running something new. If not, what's the best way? Will it work with the rca out/in?

Tuning limitation on your idea

Although there is a benefit of reusing your existing RG-6 wiring network (or an existing CAT-5/6 with HDMI), connecting multiple TVs to a DirecTV receiver would only make available the single channel that is tuned by the STB receiver on all of the TVS at the same time (like a local store does for a demo loop), losing the ATSC tuning independence they otherwise have, probably you assumed the opposite.
The same would happen with wireless HDMI spreading the single tuned channel to short distances, an expensive option indeed.
I assume the tuning/viewing restriction above would not matter to a large house with only one or two people, but having more viewers may be an issue if all want simultaneous channel choices on their TVs.
If that is not an issue you can always use remote repeaters to control the DirecTV receiver from other rooms. Also, depending on how important is to get on other rooms the HD version of a DirecTV tuned program you can always use the RF out (SD resolution) and send it via the RG-6 network for the distant TVs to tune the signal on NTSC channel 3.
Back in 1998/9 when HDTV started I recall the first Dish Network receiver was suited with an ATSC modulator module, a setup that was very expensive, at a time when the Pioneer external ATSC tuner was over $3000 (just for tuning over-the-air); things have changed quite a bit fortunately.

DirecTV Multi-room viewing
DirecTV has announced but is not shipping yet (as far as I know) new DVR's and receivers. The receivers can access programs recorded on the DVR through existing coax as well as function as receivers on their own. There will be a monthly fee but it is supposed to be "small". There is probably more information on DirecTV.com and I know there is more information on dbstalk.com.
