Mitsubishi WD-62528
bought TV from aaron rental in2006 paid off in 2008 just replace 2nd lamp. It did not fix problem. Took to repair place and they told me light engine is bad. Called mitsubishi custermer care, faxed everything they wanted and got a response. The repair bill is $999.00 and Mitsubishi said that they would cover 25% of bill. That leaves $749.00 for me to pay. Why should I pay that when new 60" mitsubishi dlp is $800.00. Some advice would be great about done with money pit tv.Anyone got lawsuit against them for substandard parts used in there tv. They gave out an extended warranty for tv because off substandard parts. That means they know they did wrong. So now I suffer because of them using cheap parts. Please give me some advise before I throw it in the trash

I understand your anger and frustration and put any brand name you want on the front of that TV - it could have been their problem instead.
BTW, if you ordered the lamp directly from Mitsubishi they might take the part back considering the circumstances.
They, as in the retailer? They sold you an extended warranty so they and the insurance company can make money and if your TV should fail during a certain time period you won’t have to pay for it. Manufacurers sell extended warranties for the same reason - to make money. Mitsubishi has not issued any recall or extension of warranty for this model due to a defect in manufacturing or workmanship. They gave out an extended warranty for tv because off substandard parts.
Seems you already have your answer...Why should I pay that when new 60" Mitsubishi dlp is $800.00.

I emailed and faxed main office and every office I could think of and told them the problem. I guess I was not very nice in the letter. Waiting for a response from them. Do alot of people have the same problem with this TV. I will make sure I let people know about the problems with DLP Mitsubishi. Do you have any suggestions. Should I persue the matter or just forget and chaulk it up as wasted money and time.I liked the TV when it was new but that did not last long when lamp went out after 6 months. TV was never the same. Thank you again for responding to this right away.TV model WD-62528

The TV is 4 years old and there is no history of run away failure - Mitsubishi does not have any reason to help you beyond satisfying a customer.
I'm sorry your TV failed and bear in mind the thousands upon thousands of others who we will never hear from, who have done nothing more than replace the lamp and enjoy the product.
Since everybody uses that line the people who can help ignore it. Pick your brand, every angry and frustrated consumer has said the same to them.I will make sure I let people know about the problems with DLP Mitsubishi.

I meant that it was good news. I was just going to give up when they told me 25% of bill. I glad I went after them a littlle bit stronger. Just wanted to let you know that I was happy with the results I got and to let others know. Thank you for having this forum. Thank you for your replies, I will let you know what I think off new 65"

The answer to your question is unknown. I have never seen a worn out lamp make a TV unwatchable. If it is that dark then the lamp may not be the problem...
After 4 years, if the lamp has not been replaced, you have every reason to expect improved brightness but it won't be a night and day difference.
