Not mentioned is that a large number of their HD customers particularly in the NE, FL and parts of Texas, have older installs receiving signals from satellites at 61.5, 110 and 119. These people do not receive the new HD as they are on satellites at 72.7 and 129.

I'm getting really tired of everyone claiming to the the "HD leader" and that includes DirecTV and Comcast. This was a big deal 5 years ago but not now.

Dish new HD Channels may be watched in NY

Post by Yoni »

I live in Rochester NY. Dish technicians were here yesterday. They replaced the dish antenna with a new one
pointing in the directions 77, 72, and 61.5 and, voila, all new HD channels are on without losing any of the old ones.

New Dish Hd Channels

The nine new channels are a welcome addition, but I question sometimes the choices Dish makes. Two extremely popular channels
remain in standard def: AMC and TCM. For almost a year, Dish has carried Logo on an hd channel, yet that broadcaster does not
broadcast in hd! Go figure....

I also live in Rochester, NY. I was wondering how you were able to get this service? Are you a new subscriber or did you just call up Dish and ask to be upgraded? Did it cost you anything? Thank you.

I called Dish and to my surprise the lady at the customer service told me
they can redirect the dish. At the end they had to replace it by a new one
which can receive three satellites.

Some of the new channels are on the HD Platinum plan which costs $10.00.
But not all of them (you can see which ones on their website).
I did subscribe to Platinum but it can also be discontinued at any time.

With regard to the actual service of replacing the dish on the roof:
It costs $95.00 or only $15.00 if you have signed up (or if you sign up when
you order this service) to their service plan, which costs $5.99 a month.
