HP HDMI audio issue

Post by clwest25 »

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue with an HP HDTV. I have been using the HDMI port on it to connect my Xbox 360 for over a year with no audio issues. Recently this past Nov, upgraded to HD cable. Then this past Monday, 1/18/2010, neither HDMI port will produce any audio. I have tested both of my HDMI cables on both devices and in both ports and it will not produce any audio. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

First try rebooting the cable box. If that doesn't work, go into the cable box menu and make sure the HDMI is enabled. Are you running the sound thru a receiver or thru the TV? If so, check all connections. Some receivers also require enabling their inputs.

Check your TV and make sure the internal speaker wasn't turned off accidentally. Also make sure HDMI control is off - it might think that the connected device is providing audio.

The TV might also be broken...
