Ed's View - CES 2010

One cannot appreciate the enormity of this exhibition except in person. This was my fortieth CES – the first being in 1965 at the old American Hotel in NYC, called the EIA Convention at that time. Then as a young engineer with RCA, I was awestruck by two full floors of products – one floor with radio, phonograph and audio tape products and the other with television – mostly black and white models. Now, the CES occupies several square miles of Las Vegas convention space exhibiting and hosting presentations relative to all types of electronics products competing in the ever hungrier world-wide consumer electronics marketplace. It will be intresting to see what & when of the 3d wave hits Canadian shores.

Personaly , i am sure that i am in the minority yet i remain strongly in the camp of

" who cares about watching tv on your mobile phone"

It does seem silly to watch TV on a 2" to 4" screen, but for many people being in motion is a near constant - and they still like their shows. My eldest daughter is not a classic traveler, but still is so rediculously active, the only way she can keep up with a few shows, is to be downloading and watching in various places and times.

It'd be nice to get her a little video player, but once she (and I) got my hands on an iPhone, it was why bother with other devices?
