As soon as press materials are available, we'll be posting it to our Bulletins list. Right now they are still in EAP2.

For those interested in how their EAP (Early Adopter Program) is going, the "votes" and feedback can be read on the OPPO BDP-83 page on their website.

More info to come soon.

Official public order date is 5/18

The BDP-83 can actually already be ordered on an invitation-only basis for people who expressed interest in the player and signed up several months ago at Oppo's web site. They are to be available for ordering by the public at large as of 5/18. I've already ordered mine.

I, for one, would like to hear from someone who has gotten this machine a little how goes it. Anybody out there have one? What's the story?

BDP-83 experience

Post by JazzGuyy »

I have had one for a couple of months and am totally happy with it. A friend of mine has also bought one and loves it. It has the best upscaling I have ever seen in a player and the ability to play all sorts of audio disks is a definite plus for me. Blu-Ray performance is as good as anything out there (but probably no better since any differences among Blu-Ray players are very minor). What few problems exist are being quickly address through firmware updates. Updating the firmware is easier than in any other firmware-updateable device I have owned.
